At Silk & Wood Interiors, we believe that being a responsible business extends beyond the products we offer and the homes we help to create. It also means recognising the importance of the community around us and supporting initiatives that can make a positive difference.
We are therefore proud to have supported a local primary school close to our offices with an initiative designed to help educate children about bullying, including how to recognise the signs, understand when behaviour is unacceptable and, importantly, know what to do if they or someone they know is experiencing bullying.
Helping Children Recognise the Signs
Bullying can take many forms and may not always be immediately obvious to a child.
Helping children understand behaviours such as repeated unkindness, exclusion, intimidation or hurtful words can give them greater confidence to recognise when something isn't right.
Just as importantly, children need to know that they shouldn't feel they have to deal with bullying alone.
Encouraging them to speak to a trusted adult—whether that is a parent, teacher, family member or another responsible adult—can be an important first step towards getting the support they need.
Why Supporting Our Community Matters to Us
Silk & Wood Interiors may be a luxury furniture and interiors business, but we are also part of a local community.
We believe businesses have an opportunity to contribute positively to the places in which they operate. Sometimes that means supporting local organisations; sometimes it means helping worthwhile educational initiatives; and sometimes it simply means using the resources available to us to help raise awareness of an important issue.
For us, supporting this initiative was a small but meaningful way of contributing to something that directly benefits local children and families.
Creating Positive Environments
Our work at Silk & Wood is centred around creating homes and interiors in which people can feel comfortable and secure. But a positive environment is about much more than the physical space around us.
Kindness, respect and consideration for others matter too.
Teaching these values from an early age can help children understand both the effect their behaviour can have on others and the importance of speaking up when they see someone being treated unfairly.
We are delighted to have received a certificate recognising Silk & Wood Interiors' support, and we are proud to play a small part in helping this important message reach children within our local community.
